That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.

to give some context to the other video, it’s from a sitcom called PhoneShop, here’s a supercut of Razz Prince in PhoneShop (British-Iranian Actor/comedian Kayvan Novak). I recommend it because it’s a bit batshit, but not all that far from the truth of the retail industry.

First of all, what the hell is an “automatic starter” supposed to be and how is it different from a remote starter ?

Second, if we’re going to even use the word “misfire”, you’d think it would be the starter failing to engage at all.

Third, once we’ve all started speaking the same language here, how could a remote start move the car? Was it in gear? And if so, did someone bypass the clutch start switch?

A starter motor can move a car forward under the right circumstances, but how, exactly, would that happen here? A remote starter would start the car, but how does this move it from a parked position? I agree - some human was involved in this dumb accident.

Well, if the car is a manual, left in gear (2nd gear), no handbrake, on a slightly downhill path, or even on a flat place, remotly starting the car COULD be enough to start it and get it to roll on it own power...

Corvette have massive low-end torque and remotly starting the car while in gear, not even touching the gas or pressing the clutch MIGHT not be enough for it to stall... I know this is potentially doable in my old LT1 C4, so I’m sure it’s doable on a C6...

Still, if I’m parking a car here (I’ve done this before) I expect the car to stay parked. I was always pleased when I turned my SHO over to the 77th Street Garage - they put it on an elevator and parked it on the 5th or 6th floor. They let me run the car elevator once ... old human-operated elevator. Fun to try and get exactly on the right floor.

Yeah, but customs installed remote-starting devices are not really a great exemple of engineering lol... My guess is that the parking staff brought the car out, shut the car down on the side of the street, leaving it in gear, then accidentaly pressed the remote-starter button on the keys while handing it over to the owner or something...

And if my SHO had gone out a window on W. 77th Street and smashed onto the ground? I only hope it would not have crushed anyone.

But it had no remote starter. You could open the doors and the trunk with the key fob - that was about it.

Yeah, no risks of anything like this happening without a remote starter...
